A man in China walking on a glass bridge was left dangling after its panels were damaged due to high wind.
The bridge is located in Piyan Mountain, in the north-east of the country, and it is 100 meters high (330 ft). The incident occurred on Friday after winds reaching up to 150km/h (90 mph) blew away pieces of the bridge's glass floor.
It is estimated that China has about 2,300 bridges made of glass along with several glass slides and walkways.
These are specifically designed to attract thrill-seeking tourists from around the world while also contributing to China's growth of domestic tourism.
An image went viral on social media showing the man hanging in the middle of the bridge, which is located near the city of Longjing.
Although firefighters rushed to rescue the man, he successfully managed to get back to safety with the help of on-site staff.
The man was soon transferred to a hospital and he is reportedly in a 'stable emotional and physical condition'. Since then, the area has been closed so that officials can investigate the incident further.
This is not the first time an accident of this type takes place in China. Back in 2018, 32 glass attractions in the province of Hebei were shut for safety checks, including walkways, viewing decks and bridges.
In 2019, one person died while six more were injured in the province of Guangxi after falling off a glass slide.
A tourist was also injured in the city of Zhangjiajie back in 2016, after falling rocks hit him while he was walking on a glass walkway.
