A man in Turkey has created a wire cage to wear on his head in an attempt to quit smoking.
Ibrahim Yücel from Kütahya, had been a smoker for over two decades when he decided to stop.
The man's cage creation was inspired by motorbike helmets and he used 130 feet of copper to make it.
In order to make sure that his invention will effectively keep him from smoking, the man went on to create a lock and gave away the key to his family.
Ibrahim had been smoking two packets a day since he was 16, but when his own father died from lung cancer, he decided to quit.
He designed the helmet to resemble a birdcage and would wear it every morning before heading to work, after leaving the key behind to his wife and children.
Despite being initially embarrassed, Ibrahim chose to move forward with the project with the support of his wife, following a series of failed attempts to quit.
Although he had to have his cage unlocked and removed in order to be able to have a meal, Ibrahim was able to eat crackers through the wiring as well as sip on water.
After his story was circulated on Reddit, some users commented:
"Extreme problems require extreme actions."
"I have to rub my eyes and scratch the side of my nose just looking at this."
"This is just about what it takes. I smoked for 7 years and quitting was one of the hardest things I'd ever done in my life. Been nicotine free for just over three years now!"
"The first time I quit was easy and I lasted 8 years but f*** me I've tried to quit like 5 times since and I've failed every time.
"I get gnarly night sweats and have fantasies about caving peoples heads in over the slightest thing every time I try."
