Shocking footage that was filmed on dashcam has emerged showing two security guards in South Africa being chased by robbers while driving a van carrying cash.
48-year-old ex-police snipper Leo Prinsloo and his colleague are shown driving an armoured Toyota Land Cruiser through a hail of bullets. In the video, the robbers open fire on the vehicle, shooting it from the side and the back while Leo desperately tries to escape them.
More than 30 bullets were fired at the truck, one of them hitting the driver's side window.
While visibly anxious, Leo and his colleague try to remain calm while being extremely concentrated and finally managing to escape the dangerous situation.
Once the video was leaked online, Leo was quickly praised for his heroic moves in driving away from the robbers. However, the firearms expert has stated that what they did was simply 'what was expected of them'.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Leo said:
"I cannot say much as an investigation is underway but I and my fellow guard did what was expected of us. They needed to take us out so they could take out the cargo vehicle."
He continued, noting:
"But there was no way I was going to let that happen and unfortunately I did not have a chance to return fire."
Brigadier Vish Naidoo, a police spokesperson, stated:
"The suspects in two cars fired many shots at a security vehicle in a convoy in an attempt to stop it during a high-speed chase in Pretoria."
He continued saying:
"The driver of the vehicle managed to evade the robbers but later stopped and got out to wait for the robbers but they fled instead. No arrests have been made as of yet."
After the dashcam footage went viral, social media users soon expressed their admiration and sympathy for the security guards. One user writes:
"This team is brilliant; if one of them panicked we would be discussing something else."
While another says:
"They live and work like this every single day. Thank God that they are level-headed, cool and calm. This is an underpaid and thankless job with very little work comforts. Respect for our people is key."
Someone also noted:
"The bravery and composure of the driver is unmatched. Big ups."
