There has been great interest in refreshments during Euro 2020 after two players removed the drinks offered to them at post-match press conferences.
In one incident, Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, believed by some to be the world's greatest footballer, removed two bottles of Coca-Cola from the desk from which he was giving the interview and said, 'drink water'. It caused the Coca-Cola share price to fall by more than $2 billion.
In the other post-match conference, French star Paul Pogba removed two bottles of alcohol-free Heineken from his table due to the fact he is a practicing Muslim and does not drink or endorse alcohol consumption.
Ronaldo has previously said that he hates to see his son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., drink fizzy juice or eat junk-food.
Pogba, who became a Muslim in 2019, previously told a journalist of his conversion, saying:
"It's everything. That's what makes me thankful for everything. It made me change, realise things in life. I guess, maybe, it makes me more peaceful inside. It was a good change in my life because I wasn't born a Muslim, even if my mum was. I just grew up like that, respect for everyone."
He added:
"Islam is not the image that everyone sees – terrorism… What we hear in the media is really something else, it's something beautiful. You get to know it. Anybody can find that he feels connected with Islam. It came because I have a lot of friends who are Muslim. We always talk. I was questioning myself in a lot of things, then I started doing my own research. I prayed once with my friends and I felt something different. I felt really good."
Pogba has also completed the Hajj, a holy pilgrimage Muslims are expected to take once in their life to the holy site of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Both Pogba and Ronaldo have seen their respective teams get off to a winning start, with France beating Germany 1-0 and Portugal beating Hungary 3-0. Both are seen as potential winners of the entire competition.
