Prince Andrew, son of Queen Elizabeth II, the ruling British monarch, has been served legal papers in relation to an alleged sexual assault he is said to have carried out on a teenager, Virginia Giuffre, while he was in the company of Jeffrey Epstein. The papers also allege that he beat the woman.
Prince Andrew has always denied the allegation in the strongest possible terms.
The affidavit was filed with the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Cesar Sepulveda, said that the papers were served to a police officer guarding the Royal Lodge in Windsor where Prince Andrew lives.
When questioned on the papers being served, the monarchy refused to give any comment.
Prince Andrew was a long-time friend of the now deceased sex-trafficker and serial sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein is said to have run a huge sex-trafficking operation over many decades in which young girls were brought under his control to be abused by both him and his wealthy associates.
After Epstein was convicted and given a non-custodial sentence for soliciting an underage prostitute, Prince Andrew maintained a strong friendship with the multi-millionaire. Epstein was later arrested for running the sex-trafficking ring with his long-term partner Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of media magnate Robert Maxwell. She has pled not guilty to all charges.
While incarcerated and awaiting trial in New York, Epstein was found dead in his cell. While his death was ruled a suicide, many have suggested that he was murdered in order not to reveal the rich and the powerful who used his sex-trafficking network. Ghislaine Maxwell is currently in a New York prison and will face trial sometime in the future.
Giuffre, who has made the allegations against Prince Andrew, says that Andrew assaulted her at a Manhattan Upper East Side mansion owned by Epstein and on an island owned by Epstein in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In 2017 Maxwell settled a $50 million lawsuit with Prince Andrew’s accuser for an unspecified amount.
