The head of the United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP), David Beasley, responded to Elon Musk, who had requested proof that the organisation can eliminate world hunger with $6 billion.
UN's WFP has now prepared a plan detailing how world hunger can be solved. They estimate that a total of 42 million people in 43 countries can be saved from hunger with 6.6 billion dollars.
In a tweet personally addressing Musk, Beasley said:
"This hunger crisis is urgent, unprecedented, AND avoidable. @elonmusk, you asked for a clear plan & open books. Here it is! We're ready to talk with you - and anyone else - who is serious about saving lives. The ask is $6.6B to avert famine in 2022"

The discussion on Twitter started after Beasley told CNN's Connect the World that just a small portion of the wealth of the ultra-rich could help eliminate world hunger highlighting that such individuals have to "step up now, on a one-time basis."
He had stated:
"$6 billion to help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don't reach them. It's not complicated."

Musk had responded, saying:
"If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it."

Beasly's tweet in response to Musk's stated:
"With your help we can bring hope, build stability and change the future."
He added:
"Let's talk: It isn't as complicated as Falcon Heavy, but too much at stake to not at least have a conversation. I can be on the next flight to you. Throw me out if you don't like what you hear!"

Let’s talk: It isn’t as complicated as Falcon Heavy, but too much at stake to not at least have a conversation. I can be on the next flight to you. Throw me out if you don’t like what you hear!
However, Musk hadn't found Beasley's response convincing and asked him to:
"Please publish your current & proposed spending in detail so people can see exactly where money goes. Sunlight is a wonderful thing."
