Music mega-star Kanye West has claimed that he will be homeless within a year due to his philanthropic plans to give away his homes and turn them into churches and places for those in need.
The 44-year-old, who owns a vast amount of property across the world, says he is planning to convert all of his homes into orphanages and churches, in what he hopes will be commune-style living conditions. He also says that many locations will serve as artistic hubs which will breed talent.
Speaking to 032c, West appeared to blame capitalism for the problems the United States is facing and that this could only be resolved by changing the system. He said:
"We are under capitalist rule, and it's killing us. It's time to change that. I'm going to be homeless in a year. I'm going to turn all the homes I own into churches. We're making this orphanage, and it will be a place where anyone can go. It should be like an artist commune. Food should always be available."
West is known to have a large property in the US state of Wyoming, which appears to be central to his future plans.
West, in recent times, has turned his attention more towards those in need, particularly since his split from wife Kim Kardashian. Last month West joined LA Mission CEO Reverend Troy Vaughn and supplied over 1,000 food parcels. He then visited the infamous skid-row area of the city. West is also known to have built relationships with many charitable organisations focused on housing issues and finding solutions to poverty.
After visiting skid-row, a source told journalists:
"He had never been there and wanted to see everything going on. He talked about saving the world and how he had all these ideas to work with LA Mission."
West is well known for his highly successful rap and music producer career as well as for his eccentric and often unstable behaviour, which has included statements saying, 'my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live', and 'I'm like a vessel, and God has chosen me to be the voice and the connector'. He also bid to run for the President of the United States in 2020 and achieved over 60,000 votes in the 12 states where he had ballot access. He has stated he will run again in 2024.
