A woman in New Zealand has revealed how building a tiny transportable house has changed her life for the better, showing that sometimes 'bigger isn't better'.
Jude, who owns the house, loved the idea of tiny houses when they first became popular a few years ago, however, she didn't want to be stuck in one location, instead, she built a small home that fits directly on the back of her truck and can be taken anywhere she goes.
The tiny house measures 6.4 meters long and 2.4 meters wide and has all the features of a basic small home, including attached water and waste disposal. Amazingly, despite being completely off-grid, 800-watt solar panels attached to the truck deliver electricity throughout the year.
Entering the home by the large French doors and you are met with beautiful décor, the doors being designed so that you feel that you are outside even when you are standing or sitting within the premises. Using wooden panelling and wood features the tiny home has a modern Scandinavian feel to it.
The home contains the features required for day-to-day living, including storage, a kitchen area, a food preparation area, a gas oven, and a regular-size fridge, it even has a full-size working shower and bathroom.
The bed drops down from the wall and is attached by a pully system, meaning the living room is also a bedroom depending on the time of day.
Jude says:
"So, I park up in some pretty amazing places and quite often, I'm the only person here. But, I never get scared because you get an idea about a place, whether it's got a good vibe to it or a bad vibe to it or the sort of people that you see coming around during the day. And I refuse to live my life around what somebody else might do."
In reference to getting lonely, Jude added:
"I just think about the people I meet. And you know, I meet some amazing people. I sit in here and I have these wonderful views and I read my book and I do this and I do that. And then I think, 'Oh, I haven't talked to anybody today.'"
