Hacker activist group 'Anonymous' has successfully hacked the Russian Central Bank and has already released 28GB of data related to the bank. The group claims that it has much more information and will be releasing state secrets shortly. The campaign by the group against Russia is in retaliation for Russia's invasion of Ukraine which is now in its 5th week.
The group claims it will release 35,000 files in total which include 'secret agreements' over the next 48 hours. The Russian Central bank is a key institution in the country and like all other central banks, it is responsible for overseeing the economy of the country. The bank, along with Russian commercial banks and other industries, has been severely hit by sanctions imposed by Western nations, leading to economic turmoil in the nation.
On a twitter post, the group said:
"JUST IN: The #Anonymous collective has hacked the Central Bank of Russia. More than 35.000 files will be released within 48 hours with secret agreements. #OpRussia."
Adding:
"We have your economic secrets now, you will tremble with fear, Putin."
In a later twitter post an account called 'Black Rabbit World' it was stated that the group had already released 28GB of data. It is not clear what this data contains yet, but the account said:
"MESSAGE FROM #ANONYMOUS RABBIT: "People shouldn't be afraid of their government, governments should be afraid of their people." The Central Bank of Russian Federation leak (28 GB) has been published by Anonymous"

Anonymous has carried out multiple disruptive attacks on Russia since the start of the war. These include hacking into Russian television stations to report the truth about what is happening in Ukraine, hacking Russian government websites, and targeting the Russian space agency.
In a statement following the Russian tv and government website hack Anonymous explained its rationale for its actions, saying:
"We abhor violence. We are anti-war. We are against police brutality. We have raised our fists in the air to stand against aggressor's time and time again. We would never choose to hurt anyone physically. Understand this and know this if any government says otherwise."
And:
"Anonymous has ongoing operations to keep .ru government websites offline, and to push information to the Russian people so they can be free of Putin's state censorship machine. We also have ongoing operations to keep the Ukrainian people online as best we can."
