Facebook's Meta Platforms will now charge creators approximately 47.5% on digital assets sales that are made through the company's VR platform, Horizon Worlds.
30% is the platform fee for the sales of VR apps and games made through the Meta Quest Store, while 17.5% comprises the charge for the Horizon platform fee.
Meta accounced on Monday that it plans to start testing the tools necessary for creators to sell digital assets. These, in turn, will generate money on Horizon Worlds, a significant part of the metaverse.
It is puzzling to see how, although Mark Zuckerberg has been criticising Apple's App Store fees of 30%, he decides to impose a charge to creators that is nearly half their sales.
Horizon Worlds and Horizon Venues, the former being a VR social platform, and the latter focusing on virtual events, are iterations of metaverse-like spaces.
