Joe Garcia, the husband of Irma Garcia, the teacher who was killed in the Texas Robb Elementary School school mass-shooting, has died of a heart attack.
Irma Garcia had been a teacher at the school for 23 years and killed by a teenage gunman along with 20 other victims, among which 19 were children.
The couple was married for 24 years and had four children.
A fundraiser set up for the family following Mr Garcia's death, had raised almost $1.6 million by Thursday.
Mr Garcia's cousin, who set uo the GoFundMe page, stated:
"I truly believe Joe died of a broken heart.
EXTREMELY heartbreaking and come with deep sorrow to say that my Tia Irma’s husband Joe Garcia has passed away due to grief, i truly am at a loss for words for how we are all feeling, PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR FAMILY, God have mercy on us, this isn’t easy pic.twitter.com/GlUSOutRVV

The children of the Garcia family include two boys and two girls aged between 12 to 23.
John Martinez, the nephew of Mr Garcia, said of Irma on a fundraising page:
"She sacrificed herself protecting the kids in her classroom. She was a hero".
