A Russian insider who works with the Russian secret service, the FSB, has leaked information stating that President Vladimir Putin is suffering from cancer and only has 2 to 3 years left to live.
The official, who spoke anonymously, says the Russian leader's health is declining rapidly and as such he may soon be removed from power. He is said to shake uncontrollably, suffer headaches and has failing eyesight.
The insider told the Sunday Mirror:
"[Putin has] a severe form of rapidly progressing cancer. We are told he is suffering from headaches and when he appears on TV he needs pieces of paper with everything written in huge letters to read what he's going to say. They are so big each page can only hold a couple of sentences. His eyesight is seriously worsening."
There has been widespread discussion surrounding Putin's health due to his public appearances in which he seems to be in discomfort and has shaking of the limbs, leading some to speculate that he has Parkinson's disease or other cerebral difficulty.
Others have noted his extreme social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic, which officials say could be due to his lowered immune system due to chemotherapy.
Former UK intelligence official Christopher Steele has said that he has also been given evidence that Putin is ill and has speculated that those below him may have him transferred to a sanitorium to avoid a full-on coup. Steele said:
"Meetings of the security council that are shown to supposedly last for a whole hour are actually broken up into several sections. He's constantly accompanied around the place by a team of doctors."
Some have imagined that the Russian invasion of Ukraine was finally decided upon by Putin as he is aware that he only has a few years left to live and wishes to seal his legacy by taking back the Donbass region of Ukraine or a whole portion in the east of the country.
