Authorities in the UK have said they are considering asking the United States to formally extradite actor Kevin Spacey over alleged sex attacks that were said to have taken place within the UK between 2005 and 2013.
Last week, the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) stated that they are ready to charge Spacey with four separate crimes involving 4 separate incidents.
Nick Vamos, a former head of extradition at the CPS, told The Guardian:
"The US Department of Justice will task US marshals to find Mr Spacey and take him to a federal court. He always had the option of surrendering and not contesting extradition."
If he does not contest the extradition, he should be in the UK within a matter of weeks, after which he will be charged and then face a probable trial.
The four charges relate to alleged attacks against three men in London and Gloucestershire.
The first attack is said to have happened in London in 2005 against a man who is now in his 40s, while the second ates to 2008 in which a man now in his 30s is said to have been forced into sex with Spacey.
Another charge relates to a sexual assault said to have occurred against a man in 2013 in Gloucestershire, England.
Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, released a statement, which said:
"The CPS has authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men. The CPS has also authorised one charge of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The authority to charge follows a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial."
In 2017 a series of allegations were made by individuals in the entertainment industry that Spacey had sexually assaulted them why they were on set. This included the allegation that a victim was approached by Spacey when he was just 14 years old.
In total, 15 people have come forward with allegations against Spacey for incidents that were said to have occurred during the Oscar-winner's long career.
