In a heart-warming video, two lions that had been kept in a cage for 8 years, are seen to be released in the wild and step on the grass for the first time.
The lions, Tanya and Tarzan, grew up living a miserable life in a Guatemala circus until a devoted rescue team decided to rescue them.
The team, which is part of the Animal Defenders International (ADI), an international animal welfare organisation, came across the two lions and realised that they had been living in terrible conditions for years.
Upon learning about the lions' story, the president and vice-president of the organisation, Jan and Tim, decided to prepare a rescue operation. Upon meeting the large felines, the team members were surprised to see how confused and scared they were.
They soon took the lions to a rehabilitation centre and then transferred them to their new home, a sanctuary located in South Africa.
Upon their arrival, Tanya and Tarzan are seen stepping on the grass for the first time in their lives, in a moment that has left viewers from around the world moved.
